SilCel is a mixed layer of silica gel and cellulose coated on glass (250 µm thick). A UV254 fluorescent indicator is incorporated into the layer for ease of visualization.

 

NOTE: Successfully used in the separation of preservatives including benzoic acid, benzoic acid derivatives, and related compounds.
