With the Analtech Photodocumentation System, accurate records of your TLC or gel separations are easy to make. Photos can be taken in the laboratory and no special knowledge of the photography is necessary. The Analtech Photodocumentation System provides instant black and white or color photographs of 20 x 20 cm (or smaller) TLC plates. A Polaroid DS-34 camera is pre-focused to produce sharp, clear photographs every time. Variable shutter speeds and diaphragm openings provide the exposure control necessary to capture even the faintest of separated TLC spots.
The system works with TLC visualization in the visible or the ultraviolet (UV) region of the spectrum. Visualization techniques, such as sulfuric acid charring, iodine vapor or color reactions, can be quickly photographed. Separated spots which fluoresce upon exposure to long wave UV light (366nm) can be documented as well as spots which quench the background fluorescence of the short wave UV indicator (254nm) in TLC plates. The heart of the Analtech Photodocumentation System is a versatile darkroom viewing cabinet.
A unique, weighted felt curtain covers the 5 x 15” opening and insures a light-tight photography area. For ultraviolet photography the cabinet has two overhead ports which accept the 8 watt combination long and short wave portable UV lamps which offer typical light intensities at the cabinet floor of 470 μW/cm2 at 365 nm and 650 μW/cm2 at 254 nm. Centered between the lamp ports is an integrally UV filtered viewing port with a plastic eye shield. The shield is easily removed to accommodate the “snap-on” camera adapter. Illumination in the visible spectrum is provided from below by means of a portable white light box. A break resistant, frosted Plexiglas viewing surface provides uniform illumination of the TLC plate.
To insure correct color rendition the light source meets 5000K ANSI standards. Versatility is the key with the modular Analtech Photodocumentation System. Start with a basic system to accommodate your immediate requirements and add other components later. By selecting the correct camera adapter, the Analtech Photodocumentation System can be used with a wide variety of cameras
